Glossary
C
Cell - Supplies energy to a circuit
Circuit - A complete path for electricity to flow
Conductor - A material through which electricity can freely flow (Allows the flow of electrons)
E
Electric charge - As elementary charge
Electron - the smallest type of negative charge
Electrostatic force - the force between a charged particles
Elementary charge - the smallest type of charge
Elementary particle - the smallest type of charge (electron and proton)
I
Insulator - A material which inhibits or stops the movement of electricity. (Stops the flow of electrons)
L
Load - A part of the circuit that is coverting electrical energy to other forms of energy. Example: A lightglobe is a load because it coverts electrical energy to light energy
M
Model - A way of explaining something using examples we have seen before to explain something that we can not see or is difficult to understand
N
Neutral - Has equal amounts of postive and negative charge
P
Proton - the smallest type of positive charge
S
Switch - Is used to complete or break a circuit to stop or start the flow of electricity
